Crushing the blacks?

What's the proper way to crush the blacks in Vegas? I went and pulled the contrast up to about 0.30 and that seemed to work pretty well for my footage.

Is this the incorrect way? Is there a proper way to do it? :)

Or use the levels settings. Gives you more control over the image than the contrast slider.
Hope this helps.

Hi all,

I'm interested in learning the ins and outs of CCing with Vegas. Can anyone suggest an accessable tutorial or 2? Cheers in advance...

I'm looking to learn the same thing... How to properly color correct and color grade. If there's a good book (or free tutorial) I'm willing to buy it. Please recommend!

(Or at least tell me how you guys learned.)

There's a good book that discusses the theory of CC, with a lot of visual examples (using Avid for the most part): Color Correction for Digital Video by Hullfish and Fowler

I think we need to start thinking through our titles of threads before we list them. I mean, everyone on this forum knows what "Crushing The Blacks" means but a new person to cameras would think were a racist bunch.
