Cropping Difficulty

Hi,
I think the answer to this question is simple, I just don't know my way around vegas as well as i did premiere. I would like to make a edit that is 2 of the same clips, one ontop of the other. the one on the bottom is cced and the one on the top is not. I would like to make the one on the top have a keyframed crop on one side so it reveals the cced one underneath it.

in premiere i just added the crop effect and keyframed the numbers for the right side of the image to crop to the left until the entire track underneath it was revealed.

is there a simple way to do this in vegas cause i cant get it to crop when i click the pan crop zoom icon on the clip

snip the track into two pieces at the exact frame you'd like to do the transition into the cc'ed clip. Lay the cc'd clip over the other one and apply a horizontal slide transition. Position that clip on the timeline where you'd like to see the cc'ed footage roll in.

Does that make any sense? If I'm following you right - this seems like the easiest way to achieve what you're trying to do.

It would be a wipe, and not a slide, but yeah, that's the easiest way.

I'd still like know what the crop problem is, exactly.

Here's how we're prescribing that you do it. Also, you *should*, on longer wipes, offset the b-edit clip by as many frames as your transition length.

All you really have to do is split the clip exactly where you want the end of the transition to be, then drag the left side of the second clip to the point where you want it do begin. Or, you can do exactly the opposite.

Yeah, but then the b-edit is x number of frames behind the transition. It won't matter on a 7 frame transition, but on a longer one, you might notice a jump in the overlay.

But if the clips aren't overlapped, just butting up to each other, the wipe appears as black. Therefore, you overlap the clips to cover the time distance of the transition.

Just saying.

No, that's what I mean. When you split the clip, you take the second clip and drag the edge of it -- not the whole clip -- it to the left. It'll overlap with the first clip and automatically create a transition. Then, you just drop in the wipe.

Now, you might want to ungroup it with the audio when you do it.

I think maybe you thought I wanted to move the whole clip? Sorry if I wasn't clear.
