Critical focus issue with Nikon adaptor

I own the Nikon 17-35 and the Optitek adapter for the F3. I had this problem, sent the lens and adapter to Optitek and got them back par focal at no additional cost! I am not sure about the middle, but sharp at both ends. jacek knows what he is talking about.

No idea what you mean by anything you said!

Are you now saying that a still camera lens ( as designed for an SLR eg Nikkor 17-35 f2.8) makes a viable zoom lens and the components are of a quality that hold up for that purpose?

Notwithstanding that a lens tech could spend hundreds ( thousands) of dollars to modify it so it does.

What I mean is that I hear people make blanket statements like that based on a very limited experience.
Budget limitation is a very valid excuse not to address the issue.
Making assumptions about the result without the experience is not....
Jon experienced the issue so he contacted me and got it resolved. Simple.....

I cant do cryptic so at this point I leave this discussion knowing nothing more than I did when I started.

I on the other hand:
can't give quotes not seeing the lens or knowing what the problem is. That should be pretty clear.
I can't even tell you if the (still) lenses will be adequate for the job if I don't know what kind of work you do. That should be pretty clear as well.
They will not be adequate for a multimillion dollar studio production with multimillion dollar talent, top paid A-list DP , director etc.
They have limitations such as extremely long , slow, stable zoom pulls...
But instead still optics offer very attractive features not possible with cine lenses in their present form. Such as weight, IS, simplicity of setup, data feedback, etc.
I hate to speak cliches but I feel it's necessary at this point.. I can't really say more without knowing more... Is that still too complicated?
I think that 17-35 can make viable zoom BTW...
