Crisp "Orange Ball" Sunrise Timelapse?

Hi all,

I have to shoot a sunrise timelapse next week of a cityscape. Is it possible with the HPX170 to obtain a crisp "orange sun ball" type sunrise? I figure with some graduated NDs it may be possible. Any suggestions? I will have a test day before I shoot the real deal. Thanks

I shot all of these with the HVX, should be no difference with the 170:

All were shot using both built in ND filters. A few may have used a circular polarizer.
I usually stop down a lot to get the effect. Sometimes I stop down less to get the blown out effect around the sun. All were shot using interval at 1 or 2 fps.

Thanks Fred, those look great. Do you stick to a particular shutter speed on those?

No, shutter speed varied anywhere from 1/30 to 1/500 depending on the shot.
Of course higher speed gives a crisper look.
