The release of 10.0.3 has really put things into perspective for me and solidified my choice to move forward with FCPX. I do use AVID and PP as well, but by far prefer X. I have just completed a feature film that I cut on PP (out of time necessity because it was shot on RED): http://vimeo.com/35599613. Although it served the purpose, I didn't love working with PP and my next feature, which is slated for fall 2012 will be cut on FCPX without question.
I could be totally off, but I was optimistically thinking about FCP X yesterday and wondering if we may see an "FCP X Studio" of some sort pop up in the future. If you think about it.. They already have some of the key components in place (Compressor and Motion), both of which they could have dropped along with color if they really wanted to. I imagine a year down the road from now, a new package could come out that might even include "Color X", which would be a trackless coloring system, based on FCP X. Probably drastically simpler than Color legacy, but potentially more powerful too. Time wise, it would make sense seeing as it would have likely been far too difficult to develop a new Color by the time X was released last summer.
Could just be wishful thinking, but I have to assume that at least the idea of this has been discussed by Apple's Pro team.
The more I work on X, the more I want to see it thrive. Everything else is starting to feel very rigid in comparison. I enjoy working more in X, am having fun editing again for the first time in over ten years. And that directly translates into better quality work.
