Crash Cam

I have been looking over some different crash cams to use with my DVCPROHD projects. Sa far I have come up with 3 options. I need them to be self-contained (no deck required), solid state preferred, small in size to mount or place almost anywhere. Using these requirements I came across these 3 cameras:
  • Panasonic HDC-SD5
  • Panasonic AG-HSC1U
  • JVC GZ-HD7

I am curious if anyone has experience or knowledge about these cameras. If you have shot or seen footage, how does it stack up? I will be using these outdoors as crash cams (as I mentioned) so low light should not be an issue. Also, a prerequisite is that I obviously need to be able to work with the footage now, in my FCP system. I don't know if there are conversion processes/software in place to make the footage editable in FCP yet or not in the case of the AVCHD codec.

Thank you so much in advance for taking the time!

You shouldn't have to worry much about codec issues. Panasonic has a free downloadable app that converts AVCHD to DVCPRO HD. Very cool.

The only experience I have is with the HSC1U is a couple of projects but nothing major (Weddings, personal stock footage etc...)

I have dropped it on numerous occasions and no problems. Cards are cheap and I can watch the footage that I shot on a projector and it looks and sounds great.
