Crank High Voltage

I just like hearing the name 'chelios'. I guess to a six year old it might sound like 'Cheerios', but... that's a cool name. Actually I really liked 1, haven't seen 2 yet but looking forward to it if and when it get's here in screen or dvd.

I hope Jason Statham doesn't end up like Jean Claude Van Damme...another import action star that fades back into the dim lights of independent streets. This is just me but...I'm beginning to get tired of watching him playing the same guy with different roles already. Again, just my own opinion because there are still hard-core fans of his out there.

I enjoy a good Statham action flick, but I'm no hardcore fan, and I do agree with what you're saying. Just the other day I was talking about this with my brother after we watched The Bank Job. Statham has the action film down, now it would be cool to see him diversify a bit. I think he has much better acting chops than Van Damme or Steven Seagal, who ended up in similar direct-to-video position with his films.

I don't know if it is typecasting or he just loves doing these types of roles?

so when peeps say the xh-a1 held up pretty good, what exactly does that mean? Like you couldn't tell the difference in quality between this and film? like did anyone notice the lower resolution?

Not so much that it looked indistinguishable from 35mm film, but more that the HDV codec held up really well considering that it was blown up really huge compared to what it would be on even the largest LCD or Plasma HD monitor.

The biggest giveaway was that the depth of field wasn't as shallow as film's, and also the shooting style of Crank 2's directors is more akin to a skate video than traditional cinema. From what I saw I would say that a more traditionally shot XH-A1 film would look like Super 16mm on the big screen. Overall it looked really good. I never felt like it was lower resolution either.

hmmm, very interesting. makes me want to get an a1 or HMC and forget about dlsrs, reds, or scarlets... I mean, this whole keeping up with tech is getting rediculous, not to mention expensive.
