Craigslist Success, Once Again!

Yes, I still troll CL for gigs.

Responded to a webisode listing looking for actors with Tactical Gear. Talked to the producer, told him I could bring a couple of my guys fully equipped, ready to shoot.

The ad was pulled 2 minutes after I spoke to him and agreed to do the job. Good sign.

I get there, and talk about being blown away, they had a studio, with 7+ cameras (3 HPX's, 3 DVX's, and a HMC-40? on sticks and more mounted in the ceiling) set up for this webisode and plasma screens for the hosts' backgrounds. They do reviews of video games and such. "The Game Room" it's called. During the show they had 2400 simultaneous viewers!

From this, I got hooked up with some VFX'ers and motion capture guys for video games who need a weapons guy to train their talent (Nice!) and set up a future interview on another show (FilmNut?) about Indie-Arms.

I have said it before, if you are willing to sift through the sand that is Craigslist, occasionally you do find gold.

Nice one Doc!

Wish it were like that on CLToronto, but most of the Film/TV postings are for either reality shows looking for "real" people, or hip-hop videos looking for models...

Great find.

CL is like the thrift store a swap meet. It's mostly junk, but there are nuggets. I got a production monitor for 7 bucks at the Goodwill, and I have landed gigs from CL that paid 500 bucks for a 3 hour interview.

You just have to put in the time.

Actually the shows called "The Game Show". I've been watching thestream.tv for nearly 1 1/2 years. They have HPXs and HMCs? Brian (the owner/board operator) said they're using DVX100s and DVC30s.

They actually recently had to go on hiatus because they're sponsor ran out of money to sponsor them. That episode was the last "Game Show" for until they can find a new sponsor.

And yes, the film making show is called "Film Nut".

I could of sworn I saw HPX's, I know the handheld sure looked like one. LOL, been a while since I had my own camera. I was too busy gearing up for our segment to get a real close look.

Yeah, The Game Show, I was close. LOL. Yeah, we were on the last episode before hiatus.

Yeah Brian is a talented and very busy guy.

Fantastic that you got a couple of great leads out of it. They almost made me want to check out video games. Almost, but not quite. Even though I live in the hometown of Nintendo (went past HQ yesterday), I've never played Nintendo. The last console I touched was an Atari 2600 back in the 80s. They got drunk before the show even started; that's some organization!

Postscript: I just went to my local craigslist on your advice. Here is the only lead: http://osaka.craigslist.jp/ats/1638723982.html
