This is a somewhat experimental short we did, in the sense that we did all one take of each shot and did long takes with all improved dialogue and story, we used the Schneider Classic Soft 1, and used one focal length 25mm for the whole thing. You'll notice there's some flaws like off focus at times and breathing in the mike, but it's entertaining nonetheless.

This looks like regular youtube video shot on minidvcam.
I dont get why people want to buy camera with shallow dof greater than in regular cam and dont use this shallow dof at all in their short films.

Maybe because it's only one tool available, and not always necessary. People who feel the need to shoot wide open and zoomed in nonstop are much worse.

Different tastes is why. It maybe hard to tell but there is selective focus going on, compression and mud could hide it, but personally I don't like really shallow depth of field. We shot at 5.6 which is wide open at that focal length of the 14-140 kit lens, mainly because any deeper and the Classic Soft bubbles start to show, but honestly I don't know if this is a shallow depth of field type story anyways, even if I did have a 50mm 1.4 on the cam I still would have shot at 5.6 and not gone in for the 1.4 ears-n-nose out of focus Sofia's People style close ups because it's weird in this type of story. It would be weird in The Office which is a similar docu-style.
