I have noticed a crack running diagonally just behind the record button on the handle of my EX1r. Not sure how it got there. Sony rep said possibly a heat-stress fracture. Sounds like something a warranty might cover, but he said probably not. Anyway, he also said it would cost $135 just to look at it. Fixing it, it seems, would mean a full handle replacement. I'm guessing that would cost $500+. So I'm thinking it's going to be 10-12% the cost of the camera just to make a repair/replacement that is essentially cosmetic. Any suggestions on whether I should just live with it, send it in or sell the thing on ebay out of spite? (I know: I'll "upgrade" to a DSLR. Ha.) Anybody have any experience with this kind of crack on the handle? What really sucks is that I've always babied this camera. Bummer....
