Crack on the lens!!

Ok so there is a small crack on the end of the lens on my dvx100b and was wondering where how much and if you can but a new lens for the camera?
 
Makes me want to cry, my DVX's lense has never even felt the air! I've had a UV on it from the second she came out the box. I don't know how to help you or what to say anymore:(
 
All I know is it's expensive. Call a Panasonic service center. They can give you a quote and maybe refer you to a proper service center that doesn't belong to them. Good luck.

How much and where did you get it from?
Sad to hear about the cracked lens.
 
doesnt ruin it for me. I like shaun never have mine off...well unless i;m cleaning it. I'd rather buy another filter than spend 800 bucks on another lens. If i thought it compromised my image i wud prolly not use it...but it doesnt. Only if bright lights are pointed toward the camera u will see the reflection of the filter in the image along with normal flaring from the lens. However i believe with a mulicoated filter this is reduced.

Uv filters can be found anywhere camera's a sold basically. They are pretty cheap...mine i bought from speccom (along with my camera) for $20. they range in prices from about that upwards. Just go on B and H and enter 72mm uv filter. Good filter brands are hoya and B+w. Mine is sunpak i believe.

if your patient you can look in to insurance !!

dont forget you home insurance may cover cost of defective elelctronics and theft
rememebr persoanl items , buisness insurance a whole difrent story more $$ but more complicated cost

i sudjest to any one with a new cam or old cam look into insuring your investments
state farm insurance is a dynamite solution for worries and doubts -
seek it out -problems do happen often -get a plan!!!!

A few months ago, before I got my DVX, I had a Sony VX2000 and 3 kids came and snatched it from my hands and smashed it right there. It was in front of my house so homeowner's insurance payed for a new camera and I found a sweet deal on a DVX. If it happened in a certain location, you may be insured but we took out a plan to protect that camera.

That is truly deranged...

So it begs the question: Why was it funny in Take the Money and Run when it happened to Woody Allen's cello and glasses (over and over again)?
