MichaelP:

After upgrading to AXP v4.6, I am CONSTANTLY encountering these CPU Overload errors. I'm not doing anything processor intensive. I'm simply scrubbing through footage, etc. I'll write the error codes verbatim below.

CPU Overload. Rendering effects at this point may prevent this error. [Error: DMPort Error].

(Click OK)

CPU Overload. Rendering effects at this point may prevent this error. [Error: DMPort Error]. Error/Status [0x80000013]

(Click OK)

Then I continue working. But this error just keeps happening. It's always the same. Is it something with my settings? Or perhaps a Microsoft Hotfix issue? I did have SP2 and then rolled back to SP1.

Your help is greatly appreciated. This is driving me mental!

Thanks,

Chris:

Thanks for the info. I checked it out and there seems to be no clear resolution to this problem. But at least I'm not the only one experiencing this.

Maybe MichaelP knows? I can't work like this.

Re: CPU Overload Errors with AXP v4.6

I don't know what is causing this. I need to send the erros messages into engineering to see if they have any insight into this.

MichaelP:

Thank you.

I will be eagerly awaiting your response. I've been pulling my hair out over here!

Re: CPU Overload Errors with AXP v4.6

Yup, I'm having the same problems. On top of that Mojo still outputs 1 frame of video per second with no audio to my monitor. I have upgraded to XP PRO and am in the process of installing SIIG firewire card and 2 gb of ram to troubleshoot this problem.

Re: CPU Overload Errors with AXP v4.6

Yeah, it's crazy. I have a non-qualified but fairly powerful system. The previous version of AXP was working fine. It's just something with 4.6 that is quirky with my set-up.

Honestly, I haven't messed with it too much to figure out the problem. I hear that this problem is happening to a lot of users for a myriad of different reasons. Let's hope MichaelP can get back to us soon,

Cheers,

Re: CPU Overload Errors with AXP v4.6

So I disconnected Mojo and sure enough, all was back to normal in Avid-land. Looks like this problem is strictly a Mojo issue. Of course, keeping my Mojo disconnected is, obviously, completely unacceptable. I really hope Avid fixes this soon!

Re: CPU Overload Errors with AXP v4.6

they better the f>cking mojo cost 999.00 with a student discount. Hell, I just bought it and I don't really see why its soo great ... well it does let you capture 1:1 and that's it

Re: CPU Overload Errors with AXP v4.6

I'm sure they'll fix it with the next update because after all, there are many people reporting this problem.

The Mojo is actually very cool. I dig all the In's and Out's. Plus it's great to have component video displayed on my Sony Trinitron monitor for accurate color-correction. And don't forget all the real-time capabilities (virtually no rendering needed) equaling a what-you-see-is-what-you-get NLE.

Re: CPU Overload Errors with AXP v4.6

I get those errors also when i scurbb the timeline. i rendered everything saved and shut down and it hasnt happened again. i hope avid fixes it in the next upgrade.

Re: CPU Overload Errors with AXP v4.6

I'm just gonna have to invest in a barebones (only mobo, case, cpu, graphics card) dell 670 -- since with my current system I can't seem to get real time!!!

Re: CPU Overload Errors with AXP v4.6

I have no real update yet from engineering since this seems to be pretty isolated cases. Some of the error messages would seem to indicate a problem with the Mojo hardware. You may want to try swapping that out to see if that is indeed the case. If so, get it exhanged.

Re: CPU Overload Errors with AXP v4.6

MichaelP:

Hmmmmm, I don't think that it is faulty Mojo hardware because it began happening *immediately* after installing AXP v4.6. And this is my 2nd Mojo! The 1st one malfunctioned from the beginning so I'm aware of the symptoms.

Also, these cases aren't as isolated as you might think. I've been reading a lot of people having this issue. It's always in reference to AXP v4.6. See the link.

I thought it might be lack of sufficient memory but I have 2GB of RAM on my computer. Do I really need any more? Plus, I have all unnecessary processes shut off.

I believe something within the software is causing a miscommunication with Mojo - it is something specific about this latest Avid update.

I appreciate all your help trying to get us back up and running. I'll be waiting patiently, standing by.

Thanks,

Hello,

I finally have some usefull information to clear this error message up. The error comes up when there is a problem moving firewire packet information from the Mojo to the computer. The message is more likely to happen if you have a computer with an AMD processor or if your system is not configured properly for use with the Mojo. This is most likely why we couldn't reproduce this error in Support because all of our PC systems are HP XW8000 which are set up exactly to the configuration guidelines we have documented on the website.

This error is nothing to will effect the performance of the system, it does not indicate there are any problems with any of your hardware and it is something that has happened on all the previous releases of Xpress Pro except that it used to just happen behind the scenes and get written to the console. The way this error is handled is being addressed and will be changed in the next release, 4.6.1.

Any idea as to when AXP v.4.6.x will be coming out? I have an important job coming up within a few weeks and I *need* Avid up and running solid!

Thanks,
