hey man....nice grabs....i'd maybe punch in the blues a little more in both grabs.....you have a wonderful sky just asking for CC.

to honor the request here it is.. but it was just a punch on the blue highlight. i liked the settings i had on my dvx-sorta 16mm feel- so i kinda left it there but just to see what it's like... others may give it a shot- i could learn a thing or two if you guys want to show me

Pretty! I did a bit of colour-tweaking on my totally-non-calibrated-non-NTSC-safe LCD monitor, so I have no idea how this would look on one:

EDIT:
If it looks any good:

Curves:
RGB - slight crush on blacks, bump in highlights
Blue - bump on highlights

HSL:
Blue - Hue +6, saturation + 62

Wow spiff, those are nice. i can tell you got it down. very saturated though.. what'd you use? how?

got some more done. let me know if yes, no maybe so. thanks.

Hm. On the top one there, I'm noticing a lot of red coming into the jacket. I like the second one better, but the blown out sky makes it feel very cold. I guess it really depends on the mood of the shot. It could be corrected to look "gorgeous" - but she looks a little worried to me - so maybe taking out some of the warmth is a good idea.

The original shot is very yellow. If you want to avoid the coldness of all blue, try more selective application of blue to highlights. The "saturation" in my tweaks is mostly contrast introduced by the RGB curve.

I have much to learn. maybe it was because i tampered with the chromas and temp on the dvx beforehand or, i still stink at FCP.. but here's my best attempt so far.

one more. hot look. cc/magic bullet along with what was already an in camera 'hot' look.

im not sure about my FCP CCer- i was just trying to mimic spiff's version.

Kubley, yes, I was going for yellowish but still retaining the blue in the sky. I just wanted a little bit more contrast from what you did.
looks good though. I probably wasn't doing something right.

thanks Steve. glad you like it.

the original in-camera for the first two is
chroma level -4
phase-3
color temp -4
master ped +5
cine_like

basically, washed out and towards the warmer, diffused look.

for the latter two - in which i ambitiously named MEXICO in settings...

detail level +2
v detail level +2
detail coring -2
chroma level -3
phase -4
temp -7
master ped -7
iris +2 (for extra kick)- not sure if it works like the way i want to though...

you guys are putting out some great stuff. I have much to learn... or maybe i need to calibrate my monitor...

I like the originals the best, its a hazy looking dog day. nice shots.

any more blue looks artificial, which isnt bad, just not natural.

in stead of punching the blue up I would approach it from a lessen the yellow point of view which in turn accents the blue, a touch of blue contrast and maybe a dash of green overall...

and you get this(a little more subtle)...

not bad meta. i dig that you dig the originals. nice. your idea works too. it keeps the natural look.
that was a good day to shoot.
