Firstly, apologies for posting stuff that that has already been discussed. I try to do searched but cant ever find exactly what im looking for. I get so lost in these forums.

------------

We have a quality widescreen TV at home which I will be watching any films I make on.

To me it seems logical to just get an anamorphic lense adapter and do my filming on that if I buy a DVX.

Apart from the viewfinder showing a stretched image, what are the other negatives when using the lense adapter?

I read somewhere in a post you lose depth of field or something, but being new to this I dont even know what that is

Also, which do you see as the best anamoprhic adapter?

Thanks alot for your help. I'm getting closer every day to making a decision about this camera or an XL2. Narrowing it down bit by bit (keep changin my mind every day)

The camera comes with a 40 page booklet about the anamorphic adapter, pro's and con's.
There's way to much to cover in a simple thread here, so get the camera with the book--or
buy the book separately here on the site. In review of your essential questions:

It works like a wide angle adapter, kind of, and you'll need to shoot a deeper stop to keep focus.
So, in a matter of words, yes, there's more depth of field (deeper depth of field)

There is only one anamorphic adapter, the Panasonic model. There are no other choices.

Hope this helps. Get the book.

focusing is a little bit trickier with the the ana lens

you cannot use additional lens adapters ( but you don't need a wider angler, anyway)

in a recently -- past thread, someone asked a similar question, and although it is in his book, Barry green did sum it up..keep searching? I understand you are shoppping the camera rigth now and would not buy a book if you don't even have it...maybe it was in the technical or hardware forum

Yeah Im starting to realise I gotta invest to find out about this camera properly. There is nowhere near me that has a DVX i can get my hands on. So I just bought Barry's book on ebay. Thanks for your help guys

I'm always here to help answer questions. It's usually helpful if you have even a little background on the subject first. Does that make sense? The book covers a ton of ground; it was a good purchase. Let us know how it works out for you. :-)
