How do you resize footage shot with the 16 x 9 conversion lens to a medium size for play back on the internet? I am guessing with numbers and it is taking me too long. I would appreciate the help.
I think you want to use a compression program- which will give you automatic choices on resizing. What video editing software are you using? Some, such as adobe premier, have built in comression and resizing. Otherwise you need Quicktime Pro, Sorensen Sqeeze or something like it. But you don't wanna simply resize without proper compression, the file will still be to big for your liking.
I am using the Avid Xpress DV but I am resizing with Quicktime Pro. What I need to know is the aspect ratio for reviewing like the trailers on www.apple.com trailers. I want a medium size. I am just about finishing with this next one I tired 214 x 120...I basically divided it by 4 from it's orignal size.
If you have soreson squeeze v4.3 you can select the Aspect = 16:9 (1.78:1 HDTV/EDTV) and under the video section make sure that "Maintain Aspect Ratio" is checked.
I used these setting for a video I shot in squeeze mode (16x9) and the final output was 360 x 202.
I use Pro coder for quicktime:
480x260
16x9 non-square pixel aspect ratio - this could be called something else in other programs.
progressive frames
23.976 frame rate.
big indian audio codec... makes bigger files but sounds nicer.
and windows media encoder for wmv files which get really small and still look and sound great using the same specs.
