corrupted files when changing modes

I recently got the HVX and have had a great time playing with it. However, while testing the camera and trying to see how all the different modes look I encountered a problem. When I shoot under 1 mode and then change the mode from 720 24pn (or any mode) to another mode all the footage I just shot shows up with a red number and it won't let me access the files. They officially become lost. It scares me a little that it is sooo easy to lose all my footage. I even tried to repair the footage buy found in the manual that if it is in red the file can not be fixed. Is this a problem other people have encountered? I could really use some help. Thank you.

There's nothing "lost" or "corrupted" about your files. Just change back to the mode they were shot in and they'll play fine.

I figured it would be something as simple as that. I guess I got freaked out when I read in the manual about defective clips being red...but I misread it and feel a little stupid. Thank you so much for your help. This forum has been invaluable to me.
