Hi everyone,
I have some corrupted clips on my Firestore from the last shoot I did. I need two things - advice on how to recover any usable footage there may be, and help troubleshooting the problem. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer!
The clips won't play back in any software at all, and when I try to view them from the firestore itself I get horribly jumpy footage that looks like its overlayed the same shot several times, all jumping around and flashing. Other clips are a full screen of multicoloured blocks of noise, and the audio channels max out with screeching.
There are a couple of brief seconds here and there that are usable, and I would at least like to salvage something, more for political reasons than anything else - obviously we will have to reshoot all the damaged footage, at a personal cost a few thousand dollars.
Colour me unimpressed.
How can I get the footage off the firestore in a way that will let me play back the movs? Even if the clips are poo pooed, I still want to be able to import them and cut the good parts out.
It is an FS100 purchased in August. It came with V3 firmware, and I have not done the upgrade yet. We shot in QTPN mode for 3 days. On day 2 there is 1 short corrupted clip. On day 3 the firestore would no longer record from the camera. As in, you press record on the camera and the two - - things on the screen would turn into the red 0 for a second, and then go back to - -. Rolling from the firestore itself seemed to work, and I rolled some stuff and played it back to make sure it was working at the beginning of the day. Nothing changed between days 2 and 3. At all. Everything was dumped and charged over night, but no settings were touched.
These are the first corrupted clips I've had since purchasing the thing. We ran the firestore on the dolly cam, just in the interest of not putting the extra weight on the jib. It was all inside in a studio. The dolly cam was a rental from a friend, so I don't know if it's his camera that caused the problem... again, it's strange that it's just day 3 where there was an issue.
So aside from selling the goddamn poo pooing thing and buying a whack of 32gb p2s instead (which is definitely something I'm considering), does anyone have any advice for me?
Feel free to ask for further clarification as needed.
Thanks for your help!
