Corrupted AVI please help

I have an external USB/Firewire drive (Maxtor 250).
After I was rebooting my pc, the windows stated there was a problem with my drive and would not recognize it anymore.
I used a hd recover program and restored what was on the disk.
Some of the AVIs came out fine and a whole bunch of others came out with an addtional extension .sfk (ie 10Sep2006_820am.ava.sfk)
Simply removing the .sfk extension did not solve the problem.
Anyone has any ideas?
Recapturing is not possible as this was captured directly on a HD bypassing the tape.
Any help would be appreciated.

Do you use Vegas?

The *.sfk extension is a meta file containing the wave form of the audio. It's not an actual media file.

Right, meaning that the .sfk files are completely disposable and don't represent any corruption or anything. It's something Vegas generates whenever you import a file into the bin. If you delete it, Vegas'll just generate a new one next time you import the associated AVI file into a bin again.
