Hey everyone.
A few months back I shot some training footage on the GH5 using the 4K 24p 400mb/s All-I setting (MP4). This generated numerous files of various sizes over the span of 2 days. Some were quick takes, some were longer. Out of all of those files, I have one that Premiere Pro and After Effects show as a "File Import Failure" and the error message says "Unsupported format or damaged file". All of the other files import smoothly and work fine. I am on PC and have used the Sandisk Extreme Pro 300Mbps cards for years with the GH5. I usually drag and drop to import, but I get the error rmessage even when I try to use the "FILE/IMPORT" method in the menu.
The corrupt file shows a file size of 43.2 GB but when I right click and select "Properties", the details section is blank except for the bottom "File" section which has the file size, date created, etc. The healthy files all list data in those blank sections (length, size, data rate, etc.).
When I listen to the associated audio file from my MixPre6, I mention to the actress after her last take that we only had 12 seconds left on the card. I am not sure if I popped the card out while it was still writing or if something happened when dumping the card, but it isn't working.
I have tried a few software solutions including Kernel Video Repair and VLC player that didn't work. There was a suggestion to repair it as an avi file, but that didn't work either. i have also attempted to use recovery software on the memory card to recover the deleted file, in case the issue happened when copying it. But I got the same result.
What has me confused, is that if I remember correctly, when the writing process is interrupted it generates an MDT file instead of an MP4. At least that was the case with sudden power loss.
Does anyone have any suggestions on a way to recover this footage?
Thanks in advance for any help.
