Hey Folks,

I am wondering if any of you have tried to correct the distortion of the SLP18105 when shot at 4K. Have you? If so, any success?

The following shows the distortion:

In my next post I will post a link to my first try at correction.

Hope you folks are doing well,
Robert

And the semi corrected version:

The correction was done in Avid Media Composer using the Lens Correction in BCC 10.

Notice the waviness. I will probably try a correction in Resolve or After Effects before contacting the Boris FX folks to see if they have any ideas. VFX is definitely not my forte'.

Thanks,
Robert

Interesting project. Can you put your findings on vimeo? Esp with Resolve. I use this lens and I hate it and I like it. I use free version of Resolve so correction doesn't work. Would help me to decide to buy full version.

Sure, the distortion one is at:

The Avid/BCC 10 corrected one is at:

The Resolve 12.5 Studio corrected one is at:

Could you not open the others I shared via Tresorit?

Take it EZ,
Robert

Wow this looks good. This is another reason to get the paid version of Resolve. This wil save some footage from the waste-bin.

Don't know if it is possible but Sony should build the correction algorithm from the FS7 into their catalyst software.

Thank you Robert

p.s. Had trouble downloading the original files don't know why (firewall, virusscanner or bad Internet connection).
