Corrado Part II

Hey Adam by any chance do you know how much went towards post production as far as the video and audio editing portion? Just curious. I was wondering if that $25k trailer was just part of the post production or if it's extra and considered more of a marketing expense.

not sure how adam's people went about it, but typically, it's its own animal. You go to a post house that specializes in trailers and tv spots. And they assign a producer who is in communication with the client and writes the copy, and an editor who cuts it. $25k is a steal. Trailer editors typically make $600 to $1200 a day and producers are on par with that. But the budget for a trailer also includes everything a feature would include, sound mixing on a theatrical stage, color work, film transfers and duplication, etc. The whole process can take anywhere from a week to a couple months, until the client is happy.

A good question, Shawn. I've only recently figured out my writing style, which is heavy on description. Even so, Corrado was 92 pages, Hangar 14 was 95, and my next project clocks in at 95 pages as well.

They are all action scripts, which is why they are as long as they are. If they had been drama, they would be a good dozen pages longer.

...related to writing style, I love Walter Hill's lean and mean scribbles from his early days. probably because it's how I tend to write and i like seeing it validated somewhere else. :p

Yeah I wish I could do that. Mine is much fatter than that but I attribute that to being a hyphenate.....at the end of the day it's me shooting this stuff so lots of description and shot calling is my notes, as it were. If I'm writing for someone else, I would probably change it.

I actually just got finished writing a 1hr long TV pilot which I was approached to do. I will NOT be directing that - someone else will. For that reason, no shots are called out in that particular script. None of my usual...."We CRANE DOWN to see Jones, lying in a pool of his own blood", etc.

Adam,

How do you feel about the idea of turning a script over to a financier to be read that's in excess of 100 pages and you do not have large names attached prior? It may be a loaded question.

No problems there, Kholi. If you have someone that's willing to read it, then by all means send it. Over 100 pages is not a big deal unless it's 115 plus, at which point I'd be thinking of cutting it. Anything over 120 pages is a no-no.

Filmboy 77 - Post was about 300k on this show.

cool thanks, that's about what I was guessing.

good info as usual zak.

Hey Adam,

Just checked out the trailer, Congratulations! It looks great, that's two down.

Genre sells, that's a good choice, and good casting.

Can't wait to see it on my local PPV.

Cheers!

Chris

Thanks guys,

The HD version is up now with full sound and full......everything. This is the release version, same as the last one but better quality.

Nice. High bitrate HD makes all the difference. The trailer's 30fps however. Any chance the company will get a different version output at 23.976 or 24 or 25 or whatever Apple trailers use?

(I just checked. Apple's trailers are 23.976fps)

Release date for final film announced? Whats the word on your next project. Congrats!

Well, I'll be... I kept wondering why the frame rate looked so off...

Adam, did you guys shoot 29.97 for foreign conversions???

The version I was given was a quicktime prores at 1920x1080 and of 1.2gb in size; it is a 23.97 frame file. I converted it for size purposes and it's still a 23.97 file, but somehow Vimeo has changed that......?????? WTF?

Yeah now I'm really baffled as it's 23.97 all the way except apparently on vimeo. Anyways, you get the idea.

No idea on release date. it has been delivered to the foreign and domestic distribs already.

Hey Adam, curious, did you ever talk about your deliverables for Corrado in this or the other thread? Cost, which deliverables were required, etc.?
