Corrado Part II

One day, I will have the time to read your threads about the making of your film.

Me having my hands more than full right now is the reason why I didn't even know about the thread, or your movie for that matter. but after hanging ot with several DVX users lately and them talking about your project, I am finally no longer clueless.

Sounds to me you and I should meet up for coffee and share horror stories.

I am sure I could learn a lot from you. It's so cool that we have this awesome forum where we can all learn and grow together. Thank you for sharing the experience here.

Oh and... BREAK A LEG!

Sorry I was so busy I missed this!

The sales process for a film when it reaches a sales agent is not a quick one; Film markets are attended, screeners are sent, negotiations are held. I was told to expect the first monies to start coming in as much as six months after I signed (January).

I do know there was strong interest from Sam Raimi's company Ghost House and their subsidiary Grindstone for North American rights. That was all playing out last week.

Hope your sales agent is having a market screening in Cannes this year. Will try and sneak in :)

His name is in the news again:

Wanna Buy A Phone? Cracky Sizemore Is At It Again

Wonder if that is going to increase interest?

Shades of Winona Ryder, I know this guy is your friend but what in the hell was he thinking??!! Here he is, trying to rebuild his career, the last thing one would think he needs is more bad press. The first thing I would be thinking if he were the star of my film is damage control...........BUT, I don't know though, maybe he'll come out of it smelling like a rose, after all jail didn't seem to hurt Robert Downy Jr. in fact after a while and several arrests, it seemed in a weird way to help his career. I don't think he would have gotten Iron Man without all his troubles and the increased name recognition that came with them. And bad behavior seems to be a mainstay for Russell Crowe but no one seems to care about that, so who knows.

Do you think this could hurt Corrado as far as getting it sold or maybe help it because Mr. Sizemore is back in the news and people are reminded of his name? I suppose him grabbing a bunch of cell phones out of a shop, then having the balls to go back for more, could be construed as lending credence to his mobster personal in your film. It may be cold but as a producer in charge of protecting your investor's money, you have to think this way. It may well end up actually helping. In fact, I don't know if it would be such a bad idea to see if anyone from the press or the television news or even better quazi-television news programs like Entertainment Tonight or whatever would be interested in talking with you as the director of his last film. You might actually, in addition to helping get more interest in you film, help him in the process by explaining that he really is a good guy. Just a thought.

if the movie is good and tom seizmore is good i doubt it will even matter. i've noticed the only thing that saves people like robert downey jr. or even music artists like r kelly (while being tried for statutory rape he was still going platinum) when they get in trouble is their talent. people always want to be entertained. if their talent and projects outweigh their negative press then their in good shape, if on the other hand they end up with lindsay lohan press and mediocre to garbage films then their up shi*s creek. as a producer, i'd only be concerned about this tom seizmore issue if it was caught on videotape and being played on TMZ and tons of youtube type of websites, etc.

I've been dealing with that deal all weekend. One thing for sure is he isn't using. His motivations have escaped all of us, but it's not drug related, I can tell you that.

The fact that "The Insider" would print it, and then put their big disclaimer at the bottom about it being posted by a "site user" is sooooo chickensh*t. What a bunch of scumbags.

Mean Girls was actually a pretty decent feature.

Its just most fans dont want to belive what their favourite actor/musican did , its a private life anyway ,in my opinion those types of peoples should be banned from films/entartainment but what we can do about it... nothing. Some regular life and real 8 hour working day for minimum wage could open their mind how lucky they are in life and how they waste it.
But lets not ruin this topic.

The Sizemore thing is really a non-issue for the film. It doesn't affect it either way.

Oakey Dokey..........I can kinda see that if the film were already sold, the problem is though, that it's in the process of being sold and these negotiations can be let us say, delicate and precarious in nature. Maybe I'm wrong, but I would imagine anything that has to do with the most prominent star in a film you are trying to get sold, at THIS point, could be potentially problematic and may greatly affect your bottom line, in addition, I would also suspect any opportunity that might present it's self to you as a way to raise awareness about your product, might be beneficial to your bottom line. Publicity is your cash flow. For anyone who doesn't believe that I have 2 words for you.....Pet Rock. This guy made a million dollars by boxing up and selling 3 inch river rocks.

Let me give you a more extreme example, OJ is box office poison at this point. Now, on the OTHER side, should a beloved actor die during production, it would make this is his last role, the film may experience an inflated B/O simply due to the fact that it's this star's last film.

Motion pictures in general, live or die by the star they attach, as you have essentially stated more than once in you posts, so I do find it , let us say, ironic, you are not more concerned about this situation, but then again, you may know something I don't .

Yeah but what I am saying is that this is so minor it is just keeping his name in the news and is a POSITIVE not a negative.

Adam, I think highly of you for believing in him and giving him a chance. As you know other producer friends of mine have past on him with Tom's agent BEGGING them to give him a deal. You don't kick a guy to the curb who is in a ditch, you did your part. Now things are different.

I'm an ass for saying this but what was posted on a list of horrible things to happen in 2009 will probably come true if he doesn't get out of this business right now. You know him fairly well, the media will kill him more than anything else.

He will tell you everything you want to hear, he is an actor.

It's impossible to say right now what the effect of TS's misdeeds might be. Paul Rubens ("Pewee Herman"), Winona Ryder and others were clearly harmed badly in similar "extreme negative publicity" circumstances. Robert Downey Jr., Rob Lowe, Hugh Grant and many others weren't. Only time will tell. Of one thing there's no doubt - Sizemore has proven himself to be a fine actor. I hope he comes out of this on top.

Well the thing for me is that Sizemore really isn't my problem. We made a movie, he was in it, he did a good job, and he's still selling. There's nothing more I can ask for.

I've moved on and am deep in development of another film. We aren't tied together or joined at the hip. What he does at this point really has no effect on me. Not to sound cold, but if he died, it would drive the price of the film up IMHO!!!!!

As a producer you've got to separate yourself from your talent a little bit. They will always misbehave. I'm onto bigger and better things, and as much as I care about Tommy, He's in charge of his own life, period, end of story.

Ted, things are much tougher these days because of the tight insurance liability issues / changes. It was almost impossible for him to be insured before the theft thing and now he runs the risk of being back in jail for his actions that are a felony because the amount was over $500. Don't know anyone that would take him now unless it's a 2 day shoot, CSI Miami type part. Then when he is out of jail (prob 30 days) he WILL violate his parole again and be right back in the slammer just like last time.

I have always liked Tom as an actor BTW.

He could always shoot a prison type doc on his new camera phones and get more into producing.

Thanks for your perspective on this, Chip.
