is this going to be a straight repost of the original, or a tweaked one?
just want to know so I can compare it to the comments about the first one accurately

It's slightly tweaked for audio, and one cut swapped for another. You tube has managed to make the background music overpower the dialog - not sure why because the DVD does not exhibit this behavior. I changed it. Also, some people have complained that some scenes are a little dark - another thing not on the DVD.

I edit, but am not a colorist or a post audio guy, and this film hasn't been to those places yet.

All I'm trying to do is give people a feel for the story. I am aware of ALL of the technical issues.

thanks for the reply. I personally have given up on trying to put quality onto youtube, color correction is useless in most cases because it seems to simplify and ruin any kind of grading. I hope that "higher quality" option and their move to H.264 is some sort of indicator of the future of Youtube being more towards HD and away from RealPlayer '96 quality.

I know it. Most of the issues I've been hearing about lately revolve around youtube caused problems. Even though you tell people a thousand times before you still get the same comments. Sheesh!

Plus it's painfully slow! New version uploading!

Ted is the guy to help critque your audio. I read your bio Ted, it must have been a blast recording all those stars, Bowie, Paul Simon, etc...

Thanks 10s.

My post audio guy is Kent Gibson, an Emmy winner. He hasn't even seen this project yet!!!!!

He will within the next two weeks once the pic is locked.

If I may make one suggestion. Before you send this trailer to distributors, and release to the general public, spend some time on color grading, and give it to someone to do some sound design/balance. We have done that with our trailer, and I think you'll be happy you did...

Just my 2 cents

Thanks, 10s, it has been!

The Bowie thing was just mixing though, so I never met him. We did it without him in NY while he was in LA. Evidently he's afraid of flying (or was then).

It was the "Station To Station" album, produced and engineered by Harry Maslin. I was Harry's assistant engineer, but he allowed me a lot of input into how we mixed it.

I had the rare pleasure of working with both Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, together, in my studio about 10 years ago, long after their collaboration ended. They were preparing for a concert.

Brandon, I know.

It's just for you guys, although frankly, I'm beginning to regret posting it here. You would think DVXUsers would have a little more experience dealing with rough work. It's as if the multitude of disclaimers I put up were completely ignored by people who should really know better.

Just talk to me about the movie, not the technical side that not only I am aware of, but I pointed out first.

I'm doing this for you guys as part of the thread, but now I know why you never see pre-release studio stuff and why it's so tightly guarded.

Not singling you out personally, Brandon!

i think he was singling you out personally, Brandon! :p

I understand what you mean though Adam, you're excited to show what you've been working on and we're excited to see it but its not gonna be polished and perfect but having it here to see will make this thread that much more special when this movie becomes all famous and stuff...

Loki - just screwin' with ya. You know that, right?

OK, here it is

Before you watch:
1. Youtube has butchered the quality. Do I need to say more?
2. No color correction.
3. No post audio work.
4. It's a work in progress.
5. I did tone down the song so you could hear the dialog.

All I really want to know is would you watch this movie?

After watching the trailer I can say

No. I would not watch this film. It looks like it was shot by amatuers in every category. I say this with nothign but honest opinion and mean no ill towards you

I think it is wonderful you have made a film; much more than I have done in the last YEAR + but I just am seeing all of the warning signs of something that screams amatuer

If you would like, I can state my case ?
