Cool New Dolly hits the market

I made something similar. It sucked. Unless the ground is pefectly flat it wobbled like hell.
Build a plumbing pipe dolly. Works a treat as it smooths out bumps in the ground.

Just my tuppence worth.

Richard, what type of wheels did you use? We had to try quite a few wheels and brands before we found one that performed good on most surfaces. Plus, there are several areas of manufacture that require precise tolerances, or you will get wobble (as you experienced).

Basically I found it to perform the same as an MSE doorway dolly...if you don't like their unit then you won't like any pneumatic tire dolly. Again at worst you can use standard 2x6s to act as track if your surface isn't level. And, adding sandbags (or a rider) will help absorb bumps.

Take a look at the demo footage and judge for yourself, I've found it to produce very useable footage for most situations.

I'm not putting you product down, just commenting on my experiance with trollies. If the floor has bumps, say rolling over uneven floor tiles, the trolly will wobble and you'll see it in the film. In order to avoid this you would need a self levelling suspension. So amount of weight will prevent you from experiencing larger bumps.

Those wheels look like solid rubber. Most of the MSE Dolly systems have inflatable wheels and those help to smooth out any bumps along the way.
