Cool Low Cost Cable-Cam KickStarter

I considered the Syrp Slingshot but never pulled the trigger on the nearly $2,000 (cart & genie) cost plus complexity. But for $200 +/- and a single cable, this looks very interesting. In post, how could the cable be hid in those wide shots facing the cable?

Yes, that would work for some shots but seems some of the demo shots are wider and include a lot of upward angles and the cable is hard to see, although in some it is there upon very close inspection. I wondered if those who were more knowing about post might have some suggestions on what to do with it. . .

I was a major cable cam advocate (vs. gimbals) but it looks like drones can pretty much do what the cable cams were designed to do, except for sports coverage inside stadiums and closed roof arenas.

Totally different tool. I can't even start describing how they are used differently. Too many ways. It's like saying you don't need a dolly or a crane or a steadycam because drones can do that too.

Uh, it's not like saying that and that's why I didn't say it. Fertile imagination sometimes gets the better of you.

And all mobile platforms have something in common - their mobility. Just because one uses track, the other wheels, the third human body and the fourth powered propellers does not mean their functions can't be overlapped in a number of circumstances.

No fertile imagination here. Just objectivity based on experience. Sure their functions overlap. I never said they didn't. I actually mentioned on my post the functions overlap. But they are different tools best used in different situations.
