SOLD

It's breaking my heart but I need to sell my beloved Cooke Varitol Hobson Taylor lens. This was a revolutionary lens that cost $30,000 new when first introduced. Cooke received a lifetime achievement award from the Academy for producing this fantastic lens. Nearly half of all major motion pictures were shot on this lens and for good reason. When my AC pulls out this lens we say "Let the magic begin."

Leading ladies just love the lens. It warms skin tones and in the color range of skin tones it seems to hide small blemishes, wrinkles and pores while leaving other colors sharp. Perfect for romance, comedy, light drama and family fare.

PL mount
20-100mm, the perfect range to shoot almost everything.
T3.1 (F2.8). For a broad range zoom that's fast
Lens case, like a small hard shell suitcase.
15mm Bridge and lens support.

[EDIT: PHOTOS IN POST #5.]

All rings turn smooth and easy. No oil, fungus or significant dust. Micro cleaning marks on front element but nothing affecting the image. The gears are all in good shape. Minor external wear as you'd expect on an older lens.

At $5,000 this is priced below what these usually sell for to sell quickly. I want someone who appreciates this fine lens.

Located in the Orange County CA area, south of LA. PM me with any questions.

I can send to the UK if you understand that you'd pay for VAT, and postage. Who delivers in your area? UPS? Fed Ex? USPS?

I'll see about some pictures in the morning.

Duke

Thanks Duke, understand about the VAT etc. Sadly, in the UK the currency is performing so badly that it really hurts on imports. On a good day the pound to the dollar would have been 1:2 - now it is more like 1.6:2 so bringing things in at the moment is an expensive option. Sparky

As you can see the lens itself is in pretty good shape. It has a motor mount on it if you want a motor to engage the gears. It also has a built in lens support. (I just realized I forgot to photograph the bridge. It's like the 15mm Cinvate type with a 3/8" screw that screws into the lens support. Basic but functional.) The front lens cap has some wear as you expect from standing a large lens on the cap over the years.

The case is for a slightly larger lens but I added a little foam to make it secure. It has wheels and a handle. There was a stupid sticker on the case that I never bother to remove all of it. If you want to spend some time I'm sure it come off.

One shot is a through the lens shot. Nice and clear. I do have the internal filter holder. I don't have any of the filters, but I know Timur found some recently. New old stock.

The markings on the lens are clear. The rings have a very smooth movement.

How much does it weigh?

It's 11 lbs and 15" long. Lens support is definitely required. A bridge for 15mm rails is included, which has a 3/8" screw that goes into the lens. It can be adjusted for height. For 15mm rails I suggest stainless steel rather than aluminum rails just to make sure there's no flex.
