Converting VHS??? (question)

Anyone know if it's possible to record off of a vhs tape machine directly into the HMC150? Are there any connectors that would allow you to go out from the VHS player into the camera? I have a feeling not, but I thought I'd throw it out there.
Thanks

Unfortunately not, I too was hoping for a nice way to digitize VHS tapes. The camera has no video inputs.

Hook your VCR into the DVD recorder or buy a VCR/DVD recorder combo. You can get a stand alone dvd recorder for under $100 these days.

All VHS video recorders have a Video Out. Yellow(for Video) – Red & White (or Black)(for sound)

All DVD–HDD recorders have the same for in.
Turn your DVD- HDD recorder on like you normally would and go through the AV options on the DVD-HDD recorder. You should find the picture of the video on one of them and press record on the HDD recorder.
It can be a long, slow process, but with the things I already have, that is how I convert NTSC video tapes to PAL DV.

I also still have a NV-GS400, and that has an option of AV in so I can go from the VHS to the camera. But that wont work NTSC to PAL

One more question. To digitize editable footage, I imagine I could just rip the DVD to create whatever CODEC I want to use in my NLE. But is there a better, more direct way to go from VHS to editable footage (and sill keep within that nice price range)? Thanks again,

Danny another option is to get a cheap DV (ebay?) camera that has a "pass through" most of the older sonys had this feature. You can hook the AV outs of the VCR into the camcorders input then capture your VHS thru the cameras Firewire into your NLE.

I like the DVD recorder myself. That way I have a copy of the tape on disc. I can then rip the DVD with mpeg streamclip to any format for editing etc. But you are going thru a few compression stages so it may lower the quality of the VHS some which isnt all that great to begin with.

+1
I just captured 4 hours of high-8 tapes from a high-8 camera's s-video output to mini dv deck which passed the signal through to firewire, which is the same method Matt s. mentioned. It's probably a little bit better quality than composite and mpeg-2 DVD.
