Converting to 24p

So from what i'm understanding, 60 Fps is easier to convert to 24p than 30, is that right? So I was hoping, pre-hack, to shoot my interviews and non-moving scenic stuff in 1080p, and my moving, man-on-the-street stuff in 720p, both in AVCHD, since AVCHD 720p was, I thought, at 60fps.

Now, post-hack, I'm looking at the clip info in Quicktime, and it's telling me the 1080p is at 24 (or 23.98 to be exact), and the 720 is shooting at 30 (or 29.98). I thought 720p was at 60?

Can anyone tell me what's going on, or if I'm going to be able to cut these two together well? Am i not reading something right, or am I missing a bit of the puzzle (or, more likely, both)?

My ultimate goal is to shoot nice footage that could possibly end up on the big screen.

I have an interview with a great cartoonist on wednesday, and the opportunity to capture some nice footage of an artist and his eye-popping art- i want to make sure I do it justice.

Thanks!
