Converting Sennhesier to Lectro. (1/8mini to TA5)

Hey guys. I have a couple mics, cos11 and countryman, wired for Senn use. I'm upgrading to lectros and I wanted to see if it's possible to rewire them with TA5 connectors. If this is possible where can I find an instructional guide? Most of my online queries on the subject have came up empty. Hope y'all can gimme something. Thanks!!

yes it is possible, but i usually send my mics to one of the usual suspects and have them re plug them (pro sound, trew, tai). ta5's are a little too small for my soldering skills so i'd rather put that to the skills of professionals.

if you're going to be doing it yourself make sure you know the difference between the two types of ta5f lectro connectors, biased and unbiased (one will work on both older um and sm style, the other only works for newer um and sm style, but both are ta5f connectors).

Don't use adapters or converters. That's just asking for trouble. Also, I'll second the comment that soldering a TA5 can be really dicey if you don't have very steady hands. Best bet is to send the lavs back to their respective manufacturers to be re-terminated. Just be sure to specify the exact model number of your wireless transmitter, because it can matter.

I would agree, adapters are asking for trouble, replace the connector.. or get new mics.
I use the Rean/Neutrik Tini XLR which are cheaper and easier to work with than the Switchcraft TA connector series.

- Addendum: If one is considering adapters, these look a little more secure than the adapter 'cable'.
