Converting P2 Data To Quicktime

NLEs that are truely aware of P2 and MXF files will reassemble the fragments and present them as one clip, even if a clip spans across cards. The fact that individual segments of a recording are limited to 4GB in size becomes irrelevant.

Sorry to interrupt, but I just wanted to give everyone an update on my transfer problem. To recap, I just had installed a SCPCI-P2 CardBus Adapter in my PC. The question that has plagued me till now was how to get the data from the P2 card to my associate in L.A. for his Mac system with FCP. As per suggestion, I copied ALL the contents from the P2 to a DVD and sent it off to my associate. It arrived just today, and was very pleased to report that he was able to read all the data in FCP with no apparent problems. Whee, what a major relief,

Our next step, (after a shoot tomorrow) will be to see if he can download through an FTP site JUST the content folder off the P2 card and see if that would work. Even if it doesn't, we still have have the DVD solution which beats getting a second card and possible damage by sending that card itself back and forth between us.

Once again, thanks to all for your patience with me with this, and your wonderful help. By the way, like I stated earlier, the nice thing about all this is that I'm only transferring about 30- 45 clips of about 1.5 seconds each, so it is manageable in some ways.
