Converting HD TO SD - a question

Hey guys,

I'm about to shoot on a dvx100, HD at 24p.

However, my school's projection system doesn't support HD. So, in order to show my footage in class I would have to covert it from HD (24p) to SD (30p), right? Can FCP do that?
What's the best way to go about it?

Appreciate your advice &help,
L.

the dvx doesnt shoot in hd, it is (sd). unless you have that andromeda. about final cut, i dont think there is a way to change it from hd to sd.

I have a feeling you're getting HD confused with the 24p frame rate. When you shoot 24p on the DVX, it doesn't record anything into high definition (the DVX isn't capable of that), it records the picture into 24 frames per second on a Standard Definition (SD) image, so you'll be fine since your film won't be HD.

thanks guys- indeed I got confused

thanks guys- indeed I got confused

for somem reason I confused the dvx100 with the hvx200...my cameraman reminded me that the dvx100 can't do HD...

FCP will export to a 30p SD, but if you are going from 24 to 30 the footage will look jittery because FCP will be filling in the black fames with its own frames. If you are projecting it see what frame rates the projector can handle, a lot of times projectors have no problem handling 24 FPS.

Final Cut Studio Pro 2 it does not matter 24p, 30i, 59.97i, 12p, 720p. If timeline is NTSC output is NTSC. Also can I get a link to one of those NTSC projectors that plays any frame rate. I was under the impression that the National Television System Committee standard for analog Component and Composite was fixed at 29.97. Maybe your thinking SECAM or SCART.:-Laugh(DBG)-1
