Converting 720 24p to Pro Res???

Hey guys,
We've done most of our shoots at 1080 30i, so the MAINCONCEPT transcoder converts it no problem. I noticed that when we shoot in 720 24p, MC still transcodes to 1080 30i and it loses real quality in color and of course it changes the frame rate and you lose the entire effect. Anyone have any ideas of how to convert 24 to pro res (and keep it 720 24p) so that I can edit this (I don't have the hardware necessary to edit natively in AVCHD).

Thanks,

Ryan

Well I'm assuming you don't have the version of FCP where you can transcode into pro res from the log and transfer?

If so.. Try using Toast 9. It's pretty flawless and it would solve all your issues.

are you on a PC? AFAIK the transcoder only works on PC so you wont be able to use Pro-Res.

If on a Mac then you need FCS2/FCP 6 to use Pro-Res.

Total noob here, jumping in on this old thread....

If you use Toast to convert to pro-res, to bring into FCP, is there any 'quality' loss? or is the ideal situation to do the log and transfer deal?
