Converting 60i Footage to 30p

I have some 1080/60i footage shot on an HMC-150, that I need to convert to 1080/30p. I figured I could just put it into compressor and export it as a 30p apple pro res file, but I didn't know if there might be a better way to do this. I was wondering if anyone had advice on the best way to do this?

Do you have the original .mts files on a disc image? If so try doing a Pass-through (re-wrap) conversion on these to H.264 native. You can do this in ClipWrap or iFFmpeg. Then pull these files into Compressor and transcode to ProRes with the preset Frame Controls set to On. Set the codec frame rate to 30 fps. Let me know how it goes ...
