Converting 30 frame project to 24 frame project

Does anyone know the best way to convert a 30 frame Avid project to a 24 frame Avid project?

I've been offered a job doing a recut on an improperly set up feature. The film was shot on 35mm and telecined with flex files, but the original editor inexplicably set the Avid project up as a 30 frame project.

To ensure an accurate negative cut, I want to edit in 24 frames. I know that I have to redigitize the tapes into a 24 frame project, but I'm wondering if there's an easy way to save the sequences cut in the 30 frame project.

Will an edl work? Has anyone done this?

I tried Raylight MXFX to convert the footage off a P2 card. It seems to convert ok, but the director was having major issues getting the footage to play properly in a 23.976 project alongside 1080p footage from an EX3.

I've read other threads that suggest an EDL, but some people say either it won't import correctly, or it takes a long time to do. Can't say I've tried it.

Anyone out there working with Panasonic 1080 24pa footage with Avid MC? Can you suggest a good workflow? I've searched this board, and came up with a few threads, but nothing really concrete. Most answers seem to point to Raylight.

I'm not trying to convert 30 frame material to 23.976, I'm just trying to salvage some edits that were made in a 30 frame project and bring them into a 24 frame project. With a flex file and a frame accurate deck, it is totally easy to set up a 24 or 23.976 project in Avid.

By the way, since posting here, I've found the solution. This page shows how to bring a 30 frame sequence into a 24 frame project:

I see. It's just that your first line was:

"Does anyone know the best way to convert a 30 frame Avid project to a 24 frame Avid project?"

By, "convert", I thought that's what you meant. Sorry to hijack your thread, I'll start a new one with my problem.
