Converting 24p NTSC to PAL

Hello Everybody,

I have project that I need to deliver in PAL, but I will be shooting on the DVX100 in 24p.

Are there any special consideration I need to take with my camera settings for a smooth conversion?

At what point in the post production process should I convert if I am editing on FCP5? Is there a quality loss?

There is a quality loss, and a cadence issue, unless done with a very expensive converter. You might check out DV films Atlantis which I believe can do this quite well. However, be aware that many PAL DVD players can read and play NTSC discs just fine, so you don't need to necessarily do this if you don't have to. I guess it depends on who you are sending the disc to.
 
Thank you for your insight! Does anyone know if there are any tools in Final Cut Studio that could also convert NTSC to PAL? Is it a substantial quality loss?
