Convert just audio of an .mov in Compressor?

I have a bunch of clips I shot with the Canon 5D MArk II (before the 24p Firmware update) and it recorded the audio at 44.1. When I convert the footage to pro res in compressor, it doesn't convert the audio to 48, so it sounds awful. DOes anyone know how to separate the audio and convert it or to convert the entire clip and have the audio convert to 48? Thanks.

I'm not sure converting your audio to 48khz will make any difference. If you think it sounds awful at 44, I'm pretty sure it will still sound awful at 48. Sounds to me like it was poorly captured.

But as for how you can do it in Compressor...

Just create a custom setting. You're probably using the default ProRes setting. Duplicate that and change the audio rate to 48khz in the audio settings menu. That's it.

You can also create an audio only setting, like an AIFF. Apply the audio settings the same way.

The audible difference between 44.1 and 48 is next to nothing. I doubt anyone could hear the difference. Where the difference comes in is when doing adjustments to the audio, the 48kHz will allow more tweaks before losing quality.

5DII in camera audio is crap regardless unless using an external devices like JuicedLink or Beachtek.

Now as for changing the audio rate, using MPEG Streamclip is by far the simplest method and free.

Open the file in QT Pro Player and convert the audio there to 48/16.

Don't know if this will solve your problem, however, as to sound quality.

well it was captured via the beechtek and there is crackling (not from the mic) and someone said it may be the audio rate being off (bc fcp timeline is 48?)
