I have a mac, and am planning on doing some editing on FCP or Imovie.

obviously, WMV files cannot be imported to these programs...

how do i convert them into a form like an AVI or MPG? so imay import them and cut them up.

any ideas?

thank you

Re: conversion

Are you talking about files that you already have that are WMV files? YOu could convert them with any NLE, I believe, like vegas or premiere, and just render the files as quicktimes. I don't think your results will be that great becuase WMV is a very compressed format, and does not edit well.

Re: conversion

Also, WMV is a locked, proprietary video format unlike AVI, Quicktime, and MPEG. It was made purposefully difficult to get media converted from on purpose. Very few tools are able to handle it unlike MPEG and Quicktime.

Your best bet is to go to the source video and recapture. I generally avoid WMV at all costs even for Windows deployment of video because it is such a pain in the arse to work with.
