Convergent Design: Please hire new engineers

Convergent Design is the best small company I have ever worked with. Their products and communication is second to none. If you want to know I've worked with them back to the nanoflash. I also own the Sound Devices PIX 240, AJA Ki Pro, Atomos Samurai and Samurai Blade - and all recorders have had issues. All companies handle it all differently. But CD has always been cutting edge and top notch at resolving issues.

Always dual record - nothing is perfect - you are basically doing a work around to the normal way of recording on the fs700. when it works, it's better than what you could do with the recorder and its cheaper than buying the big sony official recorder and lighter weight and the monitor is great.

Please do not attempt to discredit this amazing company.

I truly wish other small companies could learn from them. Especially a small company that rhymes with "Ed" that makes cameras. If only they were as humble and communicative as they deal with their own problems.

The market it too competitive for this, especially when it's not clear when development milestones will be achieved. Cutting-edge development is not a linear path, so companies put their best guess out there and hope that they are able to achieve things on time. ( the software industry has been like this for decades )

Yeah - I guess what I'm trying to say, is dial it back a bit. It feels like companies are like WE'LL BE ABLE TO DO THIS SO PLEASE BUY OUR PRODUCT (but really it will be ready in like a year or it's even just speculative at this point!)

This is by no means unique to CD. And agreed that it happens in other industries as well. It's just annoying.

Like I can't believe we're just seeing Cion footage. I can't believe we just got audio meters on the BM products. Etc. Etc. Etc.

I also agree with you too Ed - all products I"ve used have had issues. My Pix is so annoyingly frustrating right now and they aren't sure what's wrogn with it and I'm finally getting a replacement unit.

I've had Samurais corrput files. I've lost footage on BM cams. I've lost footage on a brand new A7s. Tech just fails sometimes. I'm literally just coming into the feeling that the O7Q is solid enough for real jobs, before my unit was totally questionable and anyone that used it had the same reservations. It just didn't feel like a confident recording solution. My unit had corrupted footage, strange freeze ups, and at one point it got so hot (from being on and in standby) that it literally burnt my hand (i got a new unit after that)

Everything has issues and nothing is perfect. That's just the way I approach it and try to be as careful as possible.

Good for thought, large mature companies typically publish some kind of roadmap. CD does tell us what is on the roadmap just not when and in what exact order. They are not an enterprise size company, the fact they tell us what we now already know shows vision, direction, innovation and good will. I would expect more if they had another 200 employees.

Feeding 200 additional hungry stomaches would mean increasing prices heavily.
Would you be willing to pay an express charge for developing our missing features faster?
