Anyone with a 7q+ and the sony battery plate experiencing problems? My 7q+ wont power with cheaper watson brand batteries. It will turn on but once the monitor is moved in the slightest it loses power. I have no issues if using ac power or actual expensive sony batts. My camera is an a7s. A friend of mine is having the same problem but with his fs700. How are you guys powering your monitors? thanks

strange...have you tried with a tiny piece of aluminium foil between battery and the plate to improve connection of the 2 pins? ;)

I have been having this problem for months and have only recently been told to try the real Sony batteries. If anyone finds a solution for third party batteries- or another plate that doesn't have these issues- please let me know. I'm curious about this aluminum foil trick, but it does t sound like a solution I can feel super confident about on a real job.

I have had no problems with the Sony plate and knockoff batteries, but have moved on to a dummy battery on the plate and external PowerAdd for longer record times.

My problem is with the power connection on the Odyssey. It sticks out too far and is always getting bent. Why not just start with a bent pin?

The Canon plate won't work with the Watson batteries, either. I sent my unit in for a small repair (due to their curious choice of using a mini HDMI instead of the standard size, and they lost my original plate. They replaced it with a cheaper version than the original (no battery lock and overall a cheaper feel). The replacement won't work with my Watsons. They worked fine with the original plate. This, along with other ridiculous problems I've had with the unit, has prompted us to purchase additional Atomos units instead of CD. The customer support from CD has been nothing short of rude as if the myriad of problems that others have experienced have all been our fault. I now have a handful of brand new Watson that are useless to me. Further requests to find my original plate have gone unanswered and I'm not expecting anything from them.

OP here. My problem was the dolgin plate that I bought from b&h. The watson batts are just a tad smaller than the name brand batts. CD replaced it with a nebtek plate and has worked fine ever since. They were always helpful with me even shipped overnight at their cost. I would always ask to speak to Jim or Dan. After business hours it goes to an affiliate, they sometimes dont know anything.
