Convergent Design 7Q Screen Protector?

Hi Mitch,

Do you recommend any type of screen protector for the 7Q? I know the Small HD DP6's, the screens are extremely fragile and they recommend to always have their screen protector.

Maybe something like that thin plastic sheet they put on iPads to protect the screen might work?

BTW. Are the 7Q screen a Matte finish? That's a HUGE annoyance on the Small HDs is that the screen is super reflective. Great as a mirror for talent make up, but horrible for actual viewing.

Thanks for all the awesome info.

It's a capacitive touch screen so it's designed for pressure and touch. Pretty sure it was mentioned they use some kind of hardened glass like gorilla glass. It definitely won't be as fragile as a normal lcd screen, though a protective screen film like those used on phones/ipads might be useful for protecting against scratches.

It is hardend glass just like on a tablet. It is also a glossy, reflective finish. hat's so you get the best possible contrast with blackest blacks.

ProK Solutions makes a stick-on / peel-off optical film protector for the Odyssey7Q, just like the ones made for tablets and smartphones. It passes the capacitive touch touch contact needed to use the touchscreen and also is slightly matte finish naturally, so this may help your reflective issues.

Have you seen this screen protectors in use? I've used matte screen protectors for the Apple Cinema displays but they ended up making white areas look "sparkly". Hopefully these don't do the same.

I've seen it is use on other products and it is quite good in its transparency.
