Contrast problem in San Diego

I just got a DVX100A and I love it, but I have no experience using it. My problem is trying to shoot outdoors with the sun shining brightly in San Diego. I try using the Auto White Balance function and it says AWB ACH NG LEVEL OVER. I don't know what to do. Thanks for your help in advance.

THere is a swich on the lefts side of the camera. Real large, almost side by side to the LDC hinge... It has 3 positions, to suit your lighting needs.

For your own good, please take time to read the manual. (Better yet, order the DVX User Guide from Barry Green). This is not to sound like a jerk but honestly, the manual does have some words that will not only save you time, but you might break something without knowing the camera (i.e. the zoom lens when engaged in Auto and attempting to adjust it...)

Thanks man, I appreciate the help. I've gone through the manual but it was kind of an on the fly thing for my buddy that came down. Forums are usually the quickest way to get an answer, so I came here. Thanks again.
