Continuous Recording

I've yet to find a way to bypass the "Card Door Open" warning that occurs immediately when the SD bay is open. I usually enable recording to flow from slot 1 to slot 2, but can't swap out a card in slot 1 without breaking due to this warning message. Am I stuck with only the capacities of slot one and two?

I'm used to/miss this feature from my HPX, anyone know of a workaround?

Don't try, it won't work.

A) the card door recording lockout is there to keep you from messing up or even destroying an SD card. If you pull a card out while it's being accessed there's a very good chance you'll blow the card up.
B) it won't hot-swap to a third card anyway. It will roll over from one slot to the other, but that's it.
C) Why would you need it to? On the HPX, with 4GB cards, sure it was necessary. With the AF100, you can get a couple of 64GB cards and be able to record for 12 continuous hours.

Yes, you're "stuck". It's easy enough to bypass the open door, but the moment you pop out a card, it kills the camera requiring a reboot. Buy bigger cards, if battery power is not a limitation (running on AC), and you're shooting 12 hours or less (apparently a hard limit, for now).

It is my understanding that the AVCHD file format maxxes out at 12 hours for one file size, so it will never do more than 12 hours of continuous recording.

12 hours is a lot. It is hard for me to imagine needing longer than 12 hours. Just out of curiosity, would it record longer than 12 hours if it was set at a really low fps? I am just thinking of special effects shots.

Hi, I recorded a show recently and lost several frames and audio at the join, not separated across sd cards but at the file split on 1. Is this a common scenario or is my cam faulty?

I believe it's 12 hours based on the real-time clock, so a time-lapse or slow-frame-rate capture would still be terminated after 12 hours of realtime have elapsed.

Neither -- it's much more likely that it's your computer/NLE software that is screwing up the join. The clips are designed to be absolutely seamless and when working with computer software that is fully supportive, they are seamless. So your question would probably better be asked in the appropriate NLE (or other software) forum as to how people work with it.

Rest assured though, your original source footage is fine.

Is there a setting that I need to enable for continuos recording? As of now, once card A is full, it just stops recording. Thanks for any help.
