continuity with P2

well ive just learned that using a firestore will not let you overcrank and undercrank when using 24pN...so my only solution are P2 cards. now how is continuity? i know they are dumped off as separate files...if using lets say 3 cards do they line up perfectly where the one card stopped and the other continued? especially with wedding videography where you need that kind of continuity. i just dont want to miss something.

If you're using an MXF-aware application (such as Edius Broadcast), the editor will see the clip as one large file. If not, you can use Raylight to read the clips, but they must be imported as seperate files. The timecode should be maintained, however, so it shouldn't be a problem to re-join them.

Yeah -- the way I understand it this works just like OMF in Avid (and other apps). While Avid may capture in 2 gig chunks and make several OMF files across multiple drives, you never know it because Avid sees it all as one big file on one giant drive.

Not necessarily true. You may or may not be able to shoot 24pN to the FireStore; we won't know for absolutely sure until full product details are released.

But, assuming that you can't (because 24pN doesn't go out the firewire port) there are two ways it may still allow you to do it. First, it may have intelligent capture capability, where it strips out the duplicate frames and conforms the clip when writing it to the disk (just like FCP does). Or, you can use a software frame rate conversion utility. Either way, you will be able to shoot over/undercrank to the FireStore; you may just not be able to preview it in the camera like you can with a P2 card.
