contact management software?

Anybody have recommendations for contact management software for tracking queries, scripts, cards, etc. sent to agents, managers, prodcos? Open source freeware preferred, but I would pay something if commercial software offered a useful premium over freeware.

My software is named Juliet. She is my agent.:)

Sent you something in the mail today, R.

Hope youse likes it.

LOL. Us noob saps yet to write something of more use than lining bird cages don't have Juliets so software it will have to be, plus lurking around back doors of prodcos to annoy producers trying to get home at the end of the day, as we try to pitch our lame stories, LOL.

Thanks Kyle, I owe you!

Found a freebie! I use Openoffice (openoffice.org, free and open source, clone of MS Office) and I had forgotten that openoffice now has a database app that comes as part of it-- 'openoffice base'. Just played with it; took about 10 minutes using the wizards to set up a new contacts database and form for entering contacts. And base has wizards for then spitting out form letters, queries, reports, etc.

See attached screenshot of a contacts database I have been designing using the free program OpenOffice Base. Pretty powerful, easily customizable. I am putting together a database for contacting prodcos, agents with queries, form letters, mailing lists, etc. The form you see on the screenshot is the visual interface to the database. Pretty simple to construct, has wizards and all. Can move around widgets of the form, alter fonts, use image background, etc.

if you like the database OpenOffice Base (free), it can import (and export to) spreadsheet data in case you want to access it, add more data, do reports, mailing lists, form letters etc from the form based user interface (screenshot attached of one such openoffice database i made with a form interface). Openoffice is totally free (as in beer), opensource, available at http://www.openoffice.org (for those unfamiliar with OO, basically OO is a free clone of the expensive MS Office, and OO is compatible with MS Office files, can import and export them, and OO even looks like MS Office; OO includes the word processor, spreadsheet, powerpoint, database, newsletter publisher, etc).

But if a spreadsheet is all you want that is cool too. :badputer:
randall

I use a spreadsheet. Seems to do the trick.

The open office template looks pretty cool and functional. It got me looking around to see what's out there. Right now I use highrise which is really versatile for small business / contact management. It's web based too so you can access your contacts from anywhere which I like a lot. But subscription fees suck! It costs $29 a month and it's not worth it for my particular needs. I've come to the conclusion that I need something slightly more robust than Gmail and Entourage but not as intense as File Maker Pro. So I'm looking at Bento 2. So far it looks like the right idea for $40. Has anyone had any experiences with it .... good or bad? Looks pretty customizable and supposedly integrates perfectly with Address Book and ical .....both of which I should use more often anyway. And though this reads like a sales ad I ASSURE YOU I have nothing to gain from bento.
