Connecting the HPX 170 to a monitor using SDI Out and Video Component In

I just recently got a monitor (came with a Varizoom steadicam). The monitor only has a video component in so I'm trying to go from the SDI out to the component in (there's a converter in the accessories box).

So now, I've got the converter in the SDI out and I'm able to get it plugged into the monitor, but I can't get any image on the screen. Are there any settings in the menu that I should make sure to change?

It works when I go straight from video component to video component (but the image isn't really great quality).

Any help would be appreciated. We need to get started on using this steadicam!

SDI is not component. If your monitor doesn't have SDI input, then you can't use the HPX170's SDI output.

Just use its component output instead.

What is the maximum resolution that we can get out of component cable ? I found that when im outputting from my HPX170 (720p/30pn) to my lcd tv, I found that the resolution is not great.

Thanks

Analog component signals are 480i.

Honestly, I've never found a high resolution monitor to to do any better than a regular one except for in the area of focusing. 480i should be plenty of resolution to get an idea of your composition.

Thanks all for your clarifications. So based on that, is it a fair assumption to say that after burning my movie to Blue-Ray in the right encoding, the resolution will be better ? (i.e. the image will be better on my 52 inches lcd tv than if I was using only components directly from the camera) ?

bought a used hpx170 and it didnt come with a component cable. anyone have a link to where to buy one? i've checked adorama and b&h and cant find one for the panasonic. even on specialized comm it doesnt seem to exist. any help would be appreciated. thx.
