Hello guys,
I'm a high school student who wants to study film, so I'm new in this business. I just got an HPX170 and I bought a FS100 with it. Now I want to start shooting immediately, however I'm facing a problem. Despite the fact that it may seem easy to a lot of experienced people, I just could not connect the FS100 to the camera. I have a 4pin to 6pin cable which I cannot figure out where to stick on the camera. Some help will be very appreciated. Thanks.

You need to use a 6 to 6 pin cable.

The HPX170 has a 6-pin connector. So you will need to purchase a 6-pin to 6-pin cable. Looking at the rear of the camera (as if looking through the viewfinder) there is a rubber cover at the bottom right hand corner of the camera. Lift that and there are a number of connections available there- including the 6-pin firewire.

There are more steps involved than just connecting a 6 pin FW cable. read the manuals for both the HPX-170 and FS-100. You will see step by step instructions on which setting you need to set on the camera.

all right, the instructions given in the fs100 manual are for the HVX but I still can use the HPX manual.
cheers

the only difference between connecting an hvx vs hpx is the size of the firewire cable.
