Connecting Panny monitor to my G5

Hey everyone,

Is there a cheap way to connect the Panny LCD to my G5 so I can color correct in FCP5? I can't afford a Kona card or anything like that. I know they have DVI-Component converters, but will something that simple actually work in this situation? I tried using a VGA-Svideo converter once and my TV couldn't understand the signal my G5 was sending.

I was hoping the Panny was going to have a DVI input, but no such luck.

Thanks,
Giles

I assume you have an HVX. If so, I can see five possible solutions:

1-Connect your firewire cable to the HVX. Connect component out of the HVX. Even tough no realtime plyback, you can "print to video" and watch your results. A hassle, but free.

2- Matrox MXO- about 900 bucks.

3- Aja or decklink card- 1000+

4- DVCPROHD deck, component out. realtime playback- expensive.

5- dvi to component converter- don't expect accurate results.
