Hello. I just bought the Panasonic HVX200 camera. I've owned a Sony DSR-PDX10 for years and always connected through the firewire cable. Its always been that one and not a usb like the ones I use for my external hard drives. Since my firewire cable for my last camera didn't fit in the slot for the Panasonic, I found some cables that did fit into the USB 2.0 port on the camera, and then connected it to my PC desktop via the USB ports that I always use for my hard drive. It didn't do anything. The computer won't recognize the camera or my camera won't connect to the computer. I can't figure out what to do. I unplugged the usb and plugged in the hard drive, and it popped right up, so I don't think its the port. Is there something I'm missing. I couldn't find any answers in the manual. Thank you.

You have to put it into PC mode. Use the mode button, put it in MCR mode, then press and hold the button down for another three seconds or more.

Are you trying to capture mini DV or transfer P2 data to the computer?
