GH4 Connecting G7 with Rode Videomic Pro and Tascam Dr70d

I'm trying to use the dr70d as a preamp for a run/gun wedding camera.
Right now there's hissing no matter what setting I try:

Rode goes >>> Tascam 70d to exter in 1/2
Tascam70d goes from camera out >>>> back into mic on G7

Audio sounds clean but there's hissing.
Gain is high/out is cam level.

how about the tascams internal mic, does it hiss when you monitor?

where do you monitor, on the tascam or camera?

what level is the cam input at?

It does not hiss when connected to the 70d when I monitor. Only when I playback on my pc which makes me think it's with the G7 accepting the signal?
It's at 0db. I've tried -12 and 12 but both have the same hiss.
