Connecting EX-1 to tv for viewing

I feel like a simpleton! I've read the manual and still can't make it work.

I want to connect the camera to a wide screen tv so my students can view what they shot immediately and critique it. I have two choices: component cable and the AV cable supplied with the camera.

Connecting component to the component jacks on the tv gets me picture but no sound. Connecting AV (red/yellow/white) gets me nothing. I tried scrolling through the tv's menus but don't get anything with the av cables.

I also tried adjusting output through the camera's menus, but the only option available is to turn output "on" in the YbPbR menu.

I'm sure I'm being a dumba** and missing something. Do the component cables bring sound with them or just picture?
 
Component never carries audio. I don't have my camera handy, but there is a menu item to output with the AV connection and you'll get sound and (SD video)
 
Thank you Perrone. I see that menu item but it is grayed out/not available. Which leads me to believe I'm missing something somewhere else.
 
I don't have an EX1 so take this as a general comment.

Component is RGB video only.
Red and white from the composite cable is audio.

Can you have the component cable plugged in at the same time as the red and white audio cables even with the grayed out menu item?
